I'm Backkkkk!

Oh wowww! It really has been a while since I last blogged. Well, there's an explanation for that!
I recently got back from South Africa so I wasn't able to blog for a while but I'm back now. Going to South Africa was the best experience of my life and I'll be sure to post some pics and videos this week. Also, I'm going to start doing make-up and hair tutorials which I'll be uploading once I get a good camera. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and you will be hearing from me ;)

Revlon Colorstay Foundation (Combination/Oily Skin) Review

Ok, so I haven't posted anything for a while now, especially make up posts so I thought that now would be a perfect time to catch up but before I get into the review I just want to do a quick uni update.

Uni Update: I know in my last post I talked about how I pretty much hated uni but I'm actually starting to like it now. Ever since I visited home, I've just felt a lot better about uni (it's still boring at times and has some annoying things about it but overall its alright so far) so wish me luck and I shall update you in my next post :)

Now onto the make up! So I used to hear quite a lot about this foundation but thought nothing of it and before I was using this (Revlon), I was using MAC Studio Fix Fluid NW47. The MAC foundation is alright but I wouldn't use it all the time because what I found is that no matter how much I put on, it left my face looking slightly orange and so it didn't look natural which I hate. Lol so since I was going to uni, I got a bit excited and thought 'hmm I think I need to upgrade you know!' and ended up buying the Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Cappuccino which I do not regret buying! Because it is designed for people with combination/oily skin it stays on my skin all day and still looks the same and it blends in so easily with my skin and brightens up my face without making it look cakey or orangey (now that's my kind of foundation!) so if you have oily skin then I would definitely recommend this to you and even if you don't you can still get the foundation for normal skin instead. It is definitely worth investing in and it's cheaper than the MAC foundation so its a win-win yaaaaay! :D

Why So Serious?!

Ok, now that I've started uni and I'm in the swing of things I need to get a few things off my chest. Uni is nothing I thought it would be! I had so many expectations (perhaps a little unrealistic) that have just been crushed! I have no one to talk to in lectures because a lot of them can be very anti-social and what's really annoying is the seating!!!! Almost everyone sits on the outside seat of the rows (what's up with that?), making it impossible for you to get a seat. The only time you can make friends is at night when everyone is drunk and frankly 'ain't nobody got time for that!' I'm dreading my law seminar next week :( somebody helpppp! *sigh* I've got it off my chest now, lol it probably doesn't even make that much sense but that's how I'm feeling and I wanted to share it. Wish me luck!

University So Far...

So I was finally able to get connected to the internet after starting uni on the 14th September. Moving in was such a scary thing for me and watching my family leave just made me want to cry after but I've settled down now and I already miss home :( The first two days of freshers week was so good though. I went out with a few flatmates on the day that I moved in and on the Sunday, we went to welcome tent party hosted by the uni which was really good (boy, some crazy things happened in those two days). However, there some down sides to living on campus like the amount of insects I find in my room/flat on a daily basis, the lack of money and the lack of food but I guess this is what I signed up for so I'm only going to have to get used to it. Anyway, I'm going to watch some Pretty Little Liars, then I'm off to bed because I have 3 lectures tomorrow, the first starting at 9am.
Goodnight

Music Video Porn

Ok, so I need to get something off my chest. It seems that since Robin Thicke released his ‘controversial’ “Blurred Lines” video, almost every artist is trying to do the same damn thing! They’re all trying to see who can come up with the raunchiest, most shocking music video and honestly its become boring and quite annoying- we’ve seen it all already! And they all end up getting banned from YouTube anyway because its basically PORN! I mean just today I saw Miley Cyrus's Video for Wrecking Ball in which she unnecessarily licks a hammer and appears naked, I really like the song as well but then she went to go and ruin it with a video that doesn't even correlate with the song. Anyway, I'm done ranting for the day and  I know I'm not the only one who thinks this!

Pay Day, Yaaaay!

Haha, so today is pay day and I haven't stopped ordering things online since I woke up at 9am (this is kinda bad) but the reason I haven't let my fingers rest on my laptop is partly because of uni. Pshhh who am I kidding?!?! loool I would have done the same if I wasn't going to uni. So I guess on top of being obsessed with make-up (i'm not even going to say how much I spent on that, just know it was a lotttt... and I'm not even finished!), I'm now a shopaholic as well :D
Whooop! Bring on uni, just 1 week left to go. Now it's time to give myself a break and relax with some movies and Ben & Jerry's 'Peanut Butter Me Up' ;)

iTunes Festival 2013 (Paramore) Sept. 4th

The Best Concert Everrr!
Arghhhhhhh! I just got back from watching Paramore at the #iTunesFestival with my wonderful friend and they were frickin AMAZING! I've been listening to Paramore for about 5 years now and seeing them in concert just made me love them even more! The atmoshere was just electric and everyone I came across was so nice. Everyone was so into the concert that we didn't even care that we were sweating like mad, our feet were aching and most of our voices got lost, the hits just kept on coming. I don't think I can ever forget this night, it has just made me so happy and even though my body is paying for it now, what a great way is it for me to make memories for starting uni soon and plus... it was completely FREE!!! Thank God for iTunes and to all the Paramore fans reading this whether you were at the concert, watching it live at home or didn't watch it at all, as Haley said 'WE ARE PARAMORE!!!!!!' (You can watch it online or watch it on tv so look out for it)

Bank Holiday, Hooray!

Whoooop! Go Deborah, it's your day off, go Deborah, it's your day off, I'm gonna party like it's my day off!
Thank God for frickin bank holiday, I've finally got a day off work! Working Monday-Friday (8am-5pm) is not easy and after a month its taken more than a toll on my body. I literally wake up, go to work, get home and fall asleep (and eat dinner if I have time) ooooo and my body hurtsssss! But I guess it'll all be worth it in the end when I have money saved up for uni. (eiiik which is in 2 weeks!!! :D) Lol bring on freshers week and let the fun begin!

St. Ives Apricot Scrub Review

I know St. Ives has been around for a while but since I have sensitive skin I didn't want to try a fragranced product in case I had a breakout. I decided to try this since they were giving away samples and I love it now and will definitely be taking this to university! The new design is good, it smells amazing and it works wonders on your face. After using it just once you already feel the difference. My face felt so smooth, it minimises my pores and reduces my blemishes which is a win for me and for a product so cheap, it is well worth it so I say give it a go and enjoy the benefits!

University Here I Come!!!

Arghhh! I got into university and better yet it was my choice that I got into. I must admit, I am a little disappointed that I didn't get the grades that I wanted but I'm grateful to just get into the uni especially since the whole reason behind me creating a blog in the first place was to blog about my uni experiences (which should be veryyy interesting). Anyway, I just wanted to share my news and to anyone following my blog, I can assure you, it's going to get a lot juicier when uni starts so stay tuned ;)

Freedom! (Well Just For A While...)

I'm freeeee! (well at least for the weekend) In my last post I mentioned that I was struggling a bit to get used to waking up so early again but now I must say, I'm getting used to it. Even though I don't always get enough sleep, its like my body just knows it has to get up at 5am and so its become much easier to get through the day. But anyway now that I have the weekend off I can sleep properly again and recuperate! (yaaay!)
Enjoy the weekend; have a lie in or go out and have some fun while the British weather is still nice :D

Wakey Wakey!

Early morning starts can be the worst! I discovered that this week as I started training for a new job. Since finishing school I've had nothing to do so I would go to bed when I chose to and wake up when I wanted to- BAD IDEA! I'm suffering for it now though because my body is so used to sleeping so late that I'm finding it hard to sleep on time (lol and I make sure I watch big brother as well) so I'm constantly waking up tired :(
*sigh* I guess this is my life now so wish me luck! :)

Schwartz 2 in 1 Southern Style Crunchy Chicken Bites + BBQ Dip

So I was sent a sample of one of Schwartz's new recipe mixes and the one I received was the '2 in 1 Southern Style Crunchy Chicken Bites + BBQ Dip' as you can see in the picture below

The packet is divided into two parts: the top being the BBQ dip seasoning and the bottom being the seasoning for the chicken. I decided to use this to make chips with the chicken bites and Caesar salad using these ingredients:

Here is the finished result :)

Here is how the chicken bites and BBQ dip turned out

Overall, I really like this product and I will be trying out the other recipe mixes too. The chicken bites and BBQ dip were so easy to make, takes very little time to prepare and is full of flavour so this is suitable for students, quick family meals etc. (lol basically everyone)

New Month!!!!

Whoop whoop!!! It’s the start of a new month! Haha pinch punch, first day of the month, no returns ;)
I always look forward to the start of a new month because to me it’s a brand new start. Everyday we get to know ourselves a little bit more and make a few mistakes along the way (we all do it sometimes) so when a new month comes along, it’s a fresh new start. I forget about all the bad things that have happened in the previous month and just look forward to the next, hoping it will be better than the last. So have fun in the month of August and be a better version of yourself than the last month :D

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum (Extra Strength Formula) vs Pantene Split End Serum

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Serum
Pantene Split End Serum

I first bought the Pantene serum on a whim when I had first done my hair (Peruvian Weave) and the ends were quite rough so I just needed something to soften it up then I came across the John Frieda Serum after. I had initially thought that John Frieda would have been better on the hair since it is a highly recognised brand and being priced at £6.29 (Superdrug) I thought it would do the job. However, I found that the Pantene Serum was actually better at curing my rough ends than the John Frieda Serum but the John Frieda Serum does help tone down frizz. Overall, the Pantene Serum left my hair feeling so soft and shiny and for the price of £2.29 (Superdrug) it is soooo worth it!

How to Get Glowing Skin Using A Contour Kit

Diagram: How to Contour & Highlight

Contouring is not as scary as it seems and when used properly, it really does make a difference to the face and brings back/emphasises the natural dimensions of the face that we sometimes lose when we apply foundation. Any powder or liquid that is a bit darker than your skin tone can be used as a contour but my favourite contour so far is Sleek’s Contour Kit which I use in the colour dark. The kit provides a contour and a gold highlighting powder which I use on the bridge of my nose, the apples of my cheeks, my brow bone, my forehead and my chin (as the diagram shows). Whilst the contour adds definition by creating shadows, the highlighting powder adds definition to the points of the face that the natural light/sun would hit.

Sleek Contour Kit

Tip: After I apply the highlight and contour I use a stippling or blending brush to blend it then apply blush to the apples of my cheeks. I then use a kabuki brush lightly all over my face to disperse the colour and create that glow.

Here's How It Came Out When I Did It

Tips: How to Minimise Pores

Good skin care is key especially for those like me who have oily skin because a lot of the times some oil can clog the skin and makes pores look even worse!

  1. NEVER sleep with make-up even if you are tired. It will only clog your pores
  2. Wash your face when you wake up and when you go to bed. Dirt can clog our pores throughout the day and even when we sleep on our pillows.
  3. Using cold water will help tighten the pores after washing it.
  4. Rub ice cubes on the pores for a few seconds. This will tighten the pores and therefore minimise its appearance.
  5. Use a scrub. (Because I have sensitive oily skin, I use ‘Simple’s Clear Skin Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash’ or the Facial Scrub). Because I have sensitive skin ‘Simple’ is perfect for my skin and the clear skin range helps balance the oils in my face and minimise my pores.
  6. Use a toner. (I use ‘Simple’s Kind To Skin Pore Minimising Toning Cleanser’ which is specifically made to minimise the appearance of my pores)

  • Garnier Skin Naturals PureActive Deep Pore Unclog Wash
  •  Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Scrub

Vamp Lifestyle!

Lol it seems that I've developed quite the habit of sleeping in the mornings and waking up in the afternoon. I've only been awake for about 2 hours which leaves me with little to do during the day yet I still sleep so late! I guess this is why I have such messed up sleeping patterns because as soon as school starts again, I have to get into the habit of sleeping early again...which could take a while!

Sad Times... Better Days Ahead

*Sigh* today (well Wednesday since I'm writing this at 2:25am) has been one of the saddest days of the year so far for me. I went to a funeral today and although it was sad it made me really think about my life and the people in it. I started to ask myself, when was the last time I told my loved one's how much I love and appreciate them? Because you never know when it can all be taken away from you as tomorrow is never guaranteed. So to everyone reading this (myself included), let go of grudges, live life to the fullest, love as hard as you can and live life with no regrets because life is wayyyy too short to worry about everything. So be free and enjoy life while you can, smile more and learn to appreciate even the little things in life :)

New Beginnings

Arghhhhh! So I just made a blog! I can't believe it but I'm excited too.
A while ago I would have NEVER had the confidence to do this but I'm actually finding this quite therapeutic. Since I've gathered up the courage to finally make a blog, I hope I'll soon be able to post video's on my Youtube page too so keep on following to see what my next move is. I'm hoping to blog about life (especially when I start Uni), Make-up (I don't claim to be an expert though!) and baking too :D
Here's to new beginnings!
